Knott Slams Bureaucratic Hurdles Hindering RDU Airport

April 8, 2025

WASHINGTON, DC – Today, Congressman Brad Knott (NC-13) questioned Raleigh-Durham Airport Authority (RDU) President and CEO Michael Landguth about the bureaucratic overreach and inefficiency that has delayed investments in the airport’s infrastructure.

“When you think about lost dollars to the community, RDU is an economic engine for the whole state and slowing this project down for almost a decade. It's innumerable in terms of the dollars that we have lost,” Rep. Knott said. “There was no consideration for cost. There's no consideration for the delay. There was certainly no consideration for the local economy. I mean, I've seen a dirt patch for years at RDU and it's just been absolutely stalled. It’s a disturbing example, sir, of the federal government largesse that we don't have an answer to yet or an answer for yet. And I hope that we can work after this meeting to really get into the weeds and figure out how we can prevent this type of costly delay in the future.”
