Knott's News: January Update

February 23, 2026
Blog Post

Note from Brad:

Welcome back to my monthly newsletter. January marked one year of my time in office, and one year into President Trump’s second term. I am sincerely grateful for your support over the last year and look forward to accomplishing even more in 2026.

Tax season officially began on January 26th, and I am proud to say that the Working Families Tax Cuts we passed last summer are delivering up to $10,100 in take-home pay boosts to North Carolina families. As you file your taxes this season, I encourage you to beware of common tax-related scams that aim to steal your information and/or return. If you have any questions or if there is anything we can do to help, please reach out to my team through the services tab on my website. Regardless of shutdowns or winter storms, we stand ready to assist.

Last month in Washington, I was the leading voice in support of the Combatting Organized Retail Crime Act in the House Judiciary Committee. Organized Retail Crime affects everyone. From locked-up products in stores and higher prices to unspeakable violence in broad daylight, we must unravel the criminal networks responsible for perpetuating this class of crime.

Our bipartisan legislation strikes at the heart of the issue and ensures local law enforcement has the support and coordination from federal authorities necessary to be effective.

Also on the Judiciary Committee, I demanded answers from Jack Smith regarding his overtly politicized (il)legal assault against President Trump. It became clear through his answers (or lack thereof) that he had one goal in mind: hurting the Republican nominee for president and helping Democrats.

We continue to investigate egregious cases of fraud in Minnesota and how similar crimes undoubtedly take place in other states. Jennifer Larson, who runs an autism clinic in Minnesota, testified that she’s likely going to have to close her doors because the Walz administration redirected funds away from her legitimate services toward fake Somali daycares and clinics. Such disservice to honest, good-natured Americans is unacceptable and must end.

We still have much to do, and I’m proud to have you in this fight with me. God bless you, and God bless the United States of America.

Sincerely,

Brad Joins NEWSMAX to Discuss Jack Smith's Testimony

NEWSMAX's primetime anchor Greg Kelly applauded Brad's grilling of Jack Smith before the Committee on the Judiciary. As a former federal prosecutor, Brad was able to clearly outline why Smith's approach to the case and "investigation" were both irregular and malignant.

Brad Leads Support for the Combating Organized Retail Crime Act (CORCA)

On January 14th, Brad was the leading voice in the Judiciary Committee supporting a bill called the Combating Organized Retail Crime Act.

"Organized retail crimes, or ORC, directly cost the United States nearly $130 billion annually," Congressman Knott said. "What may look like an isolated criminal act is far too often one spoke in a very well-oiled wheel. These criminals are members of larger networks – many of which include the more well-known criminal activities such as drug trafficking, gang crime, violent crime and of course, fraud.”

OP-ED: Reflecting on Year 1 of Trump 2

Brad recently published an op-ed in The North State Journal titled, “Reflecting on Year 1 of Trump 2.”

In the op-ed Rep. Knott reflects on how the first year of Trump’s second presidential term has impacted Americans and North Carolinians.
