Knott's News: February Update

March 12, 2026
Blog Post

Note from Brad:

Welcome to the February edition of my monthly newsletter. I am disappointed to report that Democrats have once again sacrificed American safety to play political games.

At a time when Americans face increased threats from Jihadists, Democrats still refused to fund the Department of Homeland Security that works every day to keep us safe. I hope that my colleagues across the aisle will realize the impact and risk associated with refusing to fund the Coast Guard, TSA, FEMA, CBP, and more.

To everyone who has called our office to seek help, utilize our many services, or express your concerns about this or other issues, thank you. While DHS remains shut down, we are here and poised to serve you in any way that we are able. I personally encourage you to reach out to my team through the services tab on my website

Here in Washington, I joined Representative Fong (CA-20) to lead the introduction of the Hiring Improvement and Recruitment Empowerment (HIRE) for Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) Act. As a former federal prosecutor, I saw firsthand the damage drug trafficking does to North Carolinians. This legislation will ease the hiring process for local DEA offices, filling critical roles and strengthening national security against evolving drug trafficking threats.

I’ve also joined Rep. Laurel Lee (FL-15) on the Safe Cloud Storage Act. This bill aims to modernize evidence handling for some of the most horrific and sensitive cases. It will enable more efficient convictions of heinous offenders, bring justice for victims, and apply strict standards for the handling and protection of sensitive evidence.

I proudly voted for the Securing America’s Critical Mineral Supply Act. North Carolina produces critical minerals, such as Lithium, that are the fuel and foundation for technology from solar grids to your smartphone. This legislation uses the Department of Energy to strengthen and incentivize American energy production and step away from our overreliance on foreign and hostile nations, like China.

The SAVE America Act, commonsense legislation that will protect our election integrity, passed the House alongside the Critical Minerals Act. I voted for this legislation because every American and North Carolinian has the right to vote in free and fair elections without fear of outside interference or fraud. The Act requires that individuals show proof of citizenship when registering to vote or attempting to vote in federal elections nationwide.

Finally, I have a few NC-13 District initiatives I’m proud to highlight. The Congressional Art Competition is underway and talented high school students may begin submitting their artwork to my office for a chance to have it displayed in the U.S. Capitol. I’m also hosting three passport fairs in Harnett, Johnston, and Wake counties to help expedite the process for anyone looking to get a new passport or renew an old one. You can find more information about both of these initiatives on my website.

Thank you for following along as we continue this important mission, we are immensely grateful for your support. As always, if there is any way me and my office may serve you do not hesitate to reach out. God bless you, and God bless the United States of America.

Sincerely,
