Knott's News: April/May Update

Note from Brad:
As I continue to meet with constituents, read your emails, and hear your priorities, there are a few reoccurring themes.
Regardless of political party, we all want NC-13 to be safe and prosperous – and for its economy, community, and cornerstone institutions like churches and schools to thrive. Accordingly, among my top priorities has been improving local infrastructure like roads and water facilities, both of which need serious attention and renovation.
I’m thrilled to announce we’ll be opening a district office in Johnston County early this month where you can meet with my staff in person should you need help with a federal agency. That said, we’ve had great feedback on our mobile office hours, so we will continue holding those in all counties. Be on the lookout for the next time we’ll be in your area; I always post a “heads up” on my social media channels beforehand.
We are always eager to assist you with issues you have dealing with agencies like the Social Security Administration, VA, and IRS, and with respect to other government services like getting passports.
As for our work in DC, Congress has been working through a process called “reconciliation” to figure out what would go into the “Big Beautiful Bill,” that recently passed the House.
Of course, the bill is in no way perfect, but it implements policies that are vital to the President’s agenda — and priorities for our district. Importantly, the reconciliation process yielded meaningful tax relief for families, businesses, and farms in our district.
It also enables lasting border security, cuts wasteful spending, and preserves Social Security, Medicare, and Medicaid benefits for those who need them.
I want to be clear: we are in no way done with DOGE. We can and must codify those cuts through standalone measures and appropriations bills, which ultimately decide what gets funded. Our founding fathers made law-making difficult by design, and this is one of those situations where we must follow the process even when it gets tough.
Recently, I introduced a critical piece of legislation that has picked up significant momentum in Congress. Originally called the "Punishing Illegal Immigrant Felons Act," it is now titled the "Stop Illegal Entry Act." My bill would implement the strongest ever penalties for illegal immigrant criminals and adheres to due process.
The bill is simple:
- Illegal aliens convicted of a felony face a minimum of five years in prison.
- Returning after deportation warrants up to ten years.
- Those elements combined, returning after deportation AND a felony conviction can put an illegal alien away for 10 to life.
President Trump has made great strides from the executive branch to secure the border, but we need to act from the legislative side to close loopholes that are keeping this crisis going and to enact appropriate penalties to deter violations of our nation’s immigration laws.
I encourage you to check out this recent article in the Washington Examiner detailing the Stop Illegal Entry Act and its broad support.
As always, serving as your Congressman is a profound honor. Please reach out to my office if we can assist you with any federal agencies.
Thank you and stay tuned for future updates!
Sincerely,

Brad Knott
Member of Congress
Brad Joins Fox News Sunday
Just ahead of the One Big Beautiful Bill coming to the House floor, Congressman Knott shared insight on House Republicans efforts alongside President Trump to get the best deal possible for the American people.

Brad Introduces Landmark Immigration Bill
Brad introduced legislation, the Punishing Illegal Immigrant Felons Act (PIIFA), which if passed will represent the strictest penalties for illegal aliens who commit severe and heinous crimes against Americans. It was renamed the Stop Illegal Entry Act when he joined forces with Rep. Stephanie Bice and Sen. Ted Cruz and led its passage through the House Judiciary Committee.

Brad Leads Effort to Expose Incentives for Illegal Aliens
Brad led four of his colleagues, also leading secure-border advocates, in exposing the perverse incentive structure illegal immigration proponents devised to worsen and extend the open borders crisis.
“Mr. Speaker, you’ve heard today from my colleagues and myself about the outrageous, government-funded incentives and plan to keep illegal aliens not only flowing into the country but to stay in this country. This scheme goes beyond waste, and it represents candidly a betrayal of the American people and the American taxpayers – those who have suffered mightily in this country because of the illegal immigration crisis,” Brad said.
Brad, Committees Deliver Wins in Reconciliation
Through the reconciliation process, each committee was tasked with submitting a proposal for their share of the comprehensive budget.
Across the House Judiciary, Transportation & Infrastructure, and Homeland Security committees, Brad and his colleagues delivered major wins for infrastructure improvements, national security, and technology advancement while coming in UNDER budget.
Brad Publishes Op-ed Outlining Economic Opportunities for NC-13
On April 22, Brad published an op-ed in the Carolina Journal titled, “Congress Can Unleash NC’s Economy.”
In the piece, Brad outlines the need to reauthorize the Tax Cuts and Jobs Act, saving North Carolinians from steep tax hikes next year. He also makes the case for rolling back unnecessary and harmful regulations that stifle growth in our area, hurting businesses, consumers, and more.

President Trump's First 100 Days
Brad has been proud to work with President Trump over his first 100 days of this new administration and looks forward to continuing to deliver for YOU.
“Never have the first 100 days of a presidency been so consequential. Following four years of disastrous and destructive policy from Biden-Harris, Americans were eager to see big, sweeping change and President Trump delivered,” Rep. Knott said.

Brad Grills Sanctuary City Advocates for Absurd Policies
